Are you interested in getting more involved in UNISON? Are you LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Trans)? If you answer yes to both of these questions – then you may be interested in getting involved in the Camden UNISON LGBT Workers group OR attending the National UNISON LGBT conference in Brighton this year – 13-15 November 2015.
Any UNISON member who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender can apply to attend and if you let us know you would like to attend we can register you. It is a great few days of discussing topics from around the country, meeting new people and learning more about how the union works. It is a lot of fun. Further details can be found on the UNISON website at here.
Low paid job (£9.24 p/h or less), part-time and manual workers have been particularly under-represented at previous conferences so if this applies to you, you are particularly welcome. Camden Branch is particularly interested in sending anyone who is low paid and a woman – as these union members have been particularly under represented.
If you are not out as LGBT within the branch please get in touch with your regional LGBT group contact at outinlondon@unison.co.uk. They will act as an intermediary between you and your branch, without revealing your identity. You’ll still be attending as a branch delegate and you should provide a report to the branch, but your name will not be attached to it.
If you would like more information about the Camden LGBT Workers group – please email dalia.fleming@camden.gov.uk. The group has regular meetings and is a space available to LGBT union members to discuss any issues relevant to them.
Please let us know by Monday 24 August if you are interested in attending.
