The Camden UNISON representative for the transport section has been unfairly suspended from work for 8 weeks.
Not only that, but he has also been prevented from carrying out his union duties which we believe is unlawful.
The suspension comes in the wake of two employment tribunal claims in the department, which were both lost by the council. And the council had to pay thousands of pounds compensation for unfair dismissal and for not adequately respecting the legal rights of a union health and safety representative from the GMB.
We are seeking legal advice on this matter, and we may need support from UNISON members in due course to try to get his reinstatement so watch this space and we will keep you updated.
