Chancellor wrong on pay progression

The Chancellor, George Osborne, has been angling to get rid of pay progression (i.e. when people move up an extra increment every year) in the civil service. This article on the Unison website points out that large private sector employers also often have schemes of incremental progression – since it helps recruitment and retention.

The attack on incremental progression – and movement to PRP – is a bad one for workers, and not one followed by many private sector firms, despite what the Government and certain senior Council managers say.
