Camden branch members should be aware that our local ballot on the national pay offer returned a majority of more than 2-to-1 to reject on a turnout of nearly 23%, so substantially higher than the national average. Across Greater London as a whole the figures almost reversed the national trend with nearly 60% rejecting, albeit on a modest 15% turnout. Overall, only the Greater London and North West regions said ‘no’ to the 1% insult, which may say something about the state of members’ morale and union organisation as well as differences across Britain in terms of inflationary pressures. Meanwhile, a strike ballot is now under way among our fellow UNISON members across Scottish councils after they overwhelmingly rejected a very similar 1% offer.
