Branch Elections Nominations open Monday 13 January

　
Each year, we elect our UNISON stewards and Branch Officers, and the election period opens on Monday. As well as encouraging those of you who have already been a steward or officer over the last year to stand again, this is a really good opportunity for anyone else to get involved/stand in the elections. A separate email with details of how to do this and nomination forms will go out this week, so please keep an eye out for it and seriously consider getting more active in your union branch.

1. 1. MEMBERSHIP OF CAMDEN UNISON

The candidate and his/her Proposer and Seconder must all be Camden UNISON members working in the Shop for which the candidate is standing.

1. 1. HEALTH AND SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE

All Stewards are strongly encouraged to be the official UNISON Health and Safety Representative for their workplaces. Additional time off and support/training is available for this. However, it is not compulsory to be the Health and Safety Representative in order to be elected as Steward.

1. 1. BALLOT OF MEMBERS

If an election is contested this will be decided by a ballot of all Shop members who will be sent individually addressed ballot papers to their workplace.

1. 1. ELECTION ADDRESSES

Candidates may submit an Election Address of not more than 200 words for distribution with ballot papers. Addresses must be sent to the Camden UNISON office with the nomination form or by any notified closing date. Any that are too long will be cut and all will be typed as written. No amendments will be allowed after the closing date.

1. 1. TERM OF OFFICE

Successful candidates are elected to serve for the UNISON year 2016/17, which starts in March 2016.

1. TRAINING

All newly elected Stewards will be expected to attend an introductory training course and other training as appropriate and will be entitled to paid time off work for this. Further details will be sent to those elected.
