Anti-union Tory administration in Southampton defeated at the polls

The Conservative administration at Southampton Council had been moving to cut the terms & conditions of its workforce – and there was a long-running dispute as Unison and Unite fought to defend their members against right-wing dogma.

At the council elections on 3rd May, the electorate in Southampton voted to reject the divisive Conservative administration and opt for a Labour one instead.  This is a victory for the workforce and for the community in Southampton.
