Barnet Unison members to strike on 9th February 2012 against privatisation

Barnet Unison members are to strike on 9th February 2012 against the transfer and privatisation of jobs and services.

The leadership of Barnet Council plan to outsource, privatise and transfer as much of the Council’s functions as they can. This is bad for workers and bad for residents – since private providers may well skimp on quality in order to make more profits. They will also try and drive down workers’ terms and conditions where they can. It is thus important that all trade unionists support Barnet Unison in their struggle, since if Barnet Council can get away with their “One Barnet” project, then other councils and public bodies may copy them.
