NJC Pay Award 2013-14

Read on for Camden UNISON’s explanation of what is happening with the the National Joint Council (NJC) award received this year and how it impacts on members’ pay from 15 October for different groups of members.

To clarify the basics : Those workers on the old contracts and those who are on the new Service Provider (SP) contracts [Scale 6 and below , or Levels 1 and 2] should have received a 1% pay rise backdated to April 2013 in their pay this month [unless they are ‘marking time’ following a downgrading in a restructure].

Workers on the new contracts on Professional & Managerial (P&M) contracts [the old grades SO1 and above , or Levels 3-6] who received a performance-related pay award , based on an appraisal rating of ‘3’ or above, will also have received a pay adjustment to reflect the fact the mid-points of their new scales have also moved up by 1%. The exact amount of the adjustment to those staff’s salaries will vary by people’s Level/Pay Zone and appraisal rating.

If you have further questions we encourage you to email or ring HR Direct (x6655).

In the meantime, UNISON is still seeking to ensure that in future years from April 2014 all staff on SP and P&M contracts will receive any NJC award, regardless of appraisal rating.
