Demonstration in support of NSL workers on 3 July

You might have heard that your colleagues working for NSL on the Camden contract are about to take strike action in support of their pay claim against the company. At present Civil Enforcement Officers in Camden earn £8.09 per hour and our claim is for an increase of £2.50 per hour to bring them in line with NSL workers in Waltham Forest.
The company has made an offer of £8.30 which was rejected by the staff. Our union, UNISON, held a strike ballot in which the yes vote was 98% and unless the company comes up with an improved offer we will be on strike on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th July. More strike days may follow leading up to and including the period of the Olympic Games.
We have heard that NSL is trying to organise some of its staff on other London contracts to come into Camden on those days to try to break the strike. That is why we are appealing to all of you to ignore any request from NSL management to work your rest days in Camden or to transfer to Camden for those two days. Although our strike is to get a better pay rate in Camden if we are successful all NSL workers in London will benefit. A breakthrough in one borough can be used by workers in others to push up their wages.
We will be mounting large pickets at all the Camden bases on both days to explain to the public in Camden that we are on strike for decent wages. We call on all NSL workers, whether or not you are union members, to support us.
